Community Involvement

Commitment to our Community
To grow and prosper, communities require care. It is the work of many hands…sharing many talents, many hours and many gifts. In giving their time and their talents, by caring for each other, the members of the community care for the larger enterprise.

Scott Theodore understands that his responsibility extends beyond his employees and policyowners. Northwestern Mutual - Denver shares an unwavering commitment to the community to help make it a better place and to make a lasting difference.

Northwestern Mutual - Denver Giving Back
We are a culture that encourages individuals to make a difference in the lives of others. Our "Giving Back" program allows each employee the opportunity to volunteer and give back to the community. Each team member is provided with the equivalent of two additional days per calendar year out of the Network office, with full compensation, to donate this time to a local charitable and/or civic organization. This special program is designed to enhance and enrich our associates and the community in which we live. We are privileged to volunteer with organizations such as:

Ed Zore with Carl PolhemusDenver Children's Home
For his work on behalf of Denver Children's Home, Carl Polhemus was recognized and honored with a $10,000 grant for the Denver Children's Home. "At Northwestern Mutual we believe being a responsible corporate citizen includes giving back to the communities where we do business," said Ed Zore, president and chief executive officer of Northwestern Mutual. "Our Community Service Award program helps us achieve two goals. We recognize our representatives for their community involvement and we help improve the quality of life in the communities our representatives serve."

REACH Foundation
Managing Partner, Scott Theodore, serves on the executive board of the REACH foundation. It is the mission of Karl Mecklenburg's REACH (Rewarding Experiences for All Children) to provide Denver area children and youth with educational opportunities and resources needed to excel in the classroom and in life. The Foundation's interactive programs and events are designed to help build a strong foundation through education and outdoor experiences.

Junior Achievement, Rocky Mountain, Inc.

The purpose of Junior Achievement is to educate and inspire young people to value free enterprise, business and economics to improve the quality of their lives.  JA uses hands-on experiences to help students understand the "economics of life."

Morgan Adams Foundation
The Morgan Adams Foundations is dedicated to improving the quality of life and survival rates of children diagnosed with pediatric cancer. Founded in October of 2003 by Joan Slaughter and Steven Adams, the Morgan Adams foundation is inspired by the memory of their daughter, Morgan, whose life was taken in 1998 by a brain tumor when she was six years old.
