Giving Back to the Community

Karl Mecklenburg's Reach Foundation received a $10,000 grant from the Northwestern Mutual Foundation in recognition of Managing Partner Scott Theordore's outstanding volunteer involvement, as part of the company’s 17th annual national Community Service Award program. Theodore was one of 26 financial representatives recognized as top volunteers. Since the start of the Community Service Award program in 1995, the Northwestern Mutual Foundation has donated more than $3 million on behalf of its representatives to over 300
non-profit organizations across the country.

All of us at Northwestern Mutual - Denver are committed to giving back to the community in which we live, work, and play.  In 2010, we had a goal to give one year of our time (or 8,760 hours!) back to the community.  And, collectively, we did it!  

In addition, Northwestern Mutual - Denver, matched those 8,760 hours with dollars and recognized the top 4 volunteers who were the most active with their organization.

Congratulations go to:

• Molly & Tre Urso who volunteered 1,092 hours with the Mothers of Preschoolers program (MOPS).  As our top volunteers, a $2,760 donation was made in their honor to MOPS.
• The following volunteers were recognized with their orgnaizations receiving a $2,000 donation in their honor:
  • Michael Anderson who volunteered 975 hours at Faith Bible Chapel
  • Scott Van Sickle who volunteered 528 hours with Colorado School of Mines
  • Steve & Shelley Shanley who volunteerd 467 hours with Ski & Snowboard Club Vail.
